Squadron Teams

Our Squadron offers optional teams that cadets can join if they are interested. Please find more information below.

Military Band

Cadets have the opportunity to be introduced and immersed into military-style marching bands, and to perform and compete.

We have a Brass and Reed Military Band that acts as a service band for the squadron during parades. The band accepts cadets of all musical levels in the early part of the training year and trains them weekly in preparation for the competition.  Band cadets normally have additional practice sessions on Sundays.

The following instruments are available for Cadets to learn:

  • Percussion: Snare Drums, Bass Drum, Cymbals or Xylophones
  • Brass: Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone or Tuba
  • Woodwind: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone

Marksmanship and Biathlon

631 Squadron offers cadets the opportunity to participate in the Air Rifle Marksmanship Program.

This program focuses on the development of precision, discipline, and focus. Cadets are trained in the use of air rifles, where they learn proper handling, safety procedures, and shooting techniques. The program emphasizes the importance of marksmanship principles, such as controlled breathing, steady positioning, and consistent trigger control.

Our Biathlon Program combines the endurance and strength of cross-country skiing with the precision and calm required for air rifle marksmanship. This unique sport challenges cadets to excel in both physical fitness and shooting accuracy under pressure.

Sports

Cadets can participate in 631 Squadron’s comprehensive sports program, consisting of weekly sports nights, sports competitions with other units and fitness testing for all cadets, in addition to specialized fitness and sports summer training courses.

The squadron sports team meets weekly on Monday nights focusing on Basketball, Volleyball, European Handball, and Badminton.

Senior cadets are also given training and experience in running and refereeing different sports and activities.
